Welcome to Tiburon / Belvedere

Breathtaking, world-renowned homes are just the start of lavish living in these dreamy Peninsula communities

The iridescent lights of San Francisco glow across the waters to the south of Tiburon and Belvedere, two charismatic communities ensconced by the striking outlines of Mount Tiburon. Both areas are known as peaceful, luxury enclaves, surrounded almost entirely by water from their shared spot on the Tiburon Peninsula.

While Tiburon functions as a stand-alone city, Belvedere is an incorporated, fully residential community connected to the rest of the peninsula via two causeways. Tiburon wasn’t incorporated until 1964 but carries a long and colorful history of catering to visitors and tourists seeking out a chance to explore the lush landscapes. Modern Tiburon is primarily fueled by its tourism, reflected in the city’s energetic yet refined Downtown District.

Homes in both Tiburon and Belvedere are world-renowned for their extravagance, and it’s common for real estate here to branch into the multi-millions for these extraordinary properties. In Tiburon, desirable estates rest on hillsides with panoramic vistas of San Francisco Bay or tucked right on the waters with docking access.

Belvedere exemplifies the peak of sophistication and luxury, and homes in both communities represent a wide range of architecture designed by the best of the best. Styles can range from historic Victorian manors and Mediterranean villas built pre-1920s, all the way to contemporary and custom traditional mansions. The majority of properties come loaded with jaw-dropping features such as gracious courtyards, indoor spas, 360-degree views from large terraces, wine cellars, and stunning pools.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Tiburon and Belvedere residents are just a ferry ride away from the dynamic entertainment of San Francisco, and the area retains the easy elegance of the nearby urban mecca. The entirely residential Belvedere has commercial amenities accessible to it via Tiburon next door. Both communities are strongly influenced by nature, due to the many surrounding parks, national landmarks, and diverse terrain.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Contiguous with the gentle waters of Richardson Bay, Tiburon’s Downtown District lies at the southern tip of Tiburon Boulevard. The salt-scented breezes permeate the air outside of upscale boutiques and award-winning restaurants, encouraging visitors to take a stroll and see the plenitude of venues to explore.

Some of the top local specialty goods include things such as; high-end knitted apparel and fashion at Knit House on Main, luxury home décor and clothing at Main Street Mercantile, and a mix of classic candies, gourmet chocolate, and house-made fudge at The Candy Store on Main Street. At YEMA, owners are outpacing even the hottest new trends with their curated selection of streetwear and athletic fashions.

Sam’s Anchor Tavern is a Tiburon essential for visitors and residents, taking the title as arguably one of the best, laid-back seafood joints in Marin County. The freshest catches right from the bay area, stellar waterfront views of Angel Island, and a friendly ambiance all make this local favorite irresistible. Ready to combine the bold flavors of Italy with the trove of fresh California seafood? Luna Blu is a romantic little Italian seafood that prides itself on making every customer feel like family.

Things to Do

The amount of scenic splendor in both Belvedere and Tiburon is truly astonishing. From the rare wildflowers billowing on the rolling grasslands of Old Saint Hilary’s Preserve to the dense woodlands of Tiburon Uplands — located next to the San Francisco State Estuary and Ocean Science Center — the Tiburon Peninsula offers up a cornucopia of natural wonder.

A scenic, waterfront park ideal for picnics and leisurely outings, Blackie’s Pasture and Trestle Trail above are both homages to the city’s history. The notable bay artist Albert Guibara is the mastermind behind the life-sized sculpture of the park’s namesake horse, a glimmering bronze piece standing out as a Tiburon landmark.

Paradise Beach is a large, 19-acre residential park comprising a lovely shoreline and grassy fields that’s great for fishing, swimming, and unwinding. Paradise Beach is well-regarded for its panoramic views, rivaling even the secluded Hippie Tree; a massive Eucalyptus beloved for its rope swing and majestic vistas from its hilled vantage point.

Schools

Tiburon and Belvedere are home to a number of excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:

  • Reed Elementary School, K-2, highly rated public elementary school
  • Del Mar Middle School, 6-8, #2 ranked public middle school in Marin County
